The School of Artificial Intelligence and Electronic Engineering was established by Sichuan Technology and Business University through the integration of the former School of Electronic Information Engineering and School of Computer Science. This restructuring is a proactive response to the national AI development strategy, aligns with industry demands and technological frontiers, and positions the school as an engineering institution specializing in next-generation information technologies. The school's educational history dates back to 2001. The university currently offers nine undergraduate programs: The following programs are available: Computer Science and Technology, Communication Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, Information Management and Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Security, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science and Big Data Technology. In addition, there is one associate degree programme in Computer Application Technology. Among these, it boasts three provincial-level applied demonstration majors, two provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors, and one discipline under Sichuan Province's "Double First-Class" Gongga Plan cultivation initiative.
The School's mission is to "anchor the goal of pursuing master's degree authorization and establish disciplinary benchmarks." In line with this mission, the school focuses on three major research directions: artificial intelligence, next-generation electronic information technology, and low-altitude economic perception systems. It has positioned its disciplinary development to "serve national strategies and support regional development." The School is dedicated to building an interdisciplinary ecosystem centred on "AI×Electronics," leveraging electronic engineering to strengthen hardware foundations and empower intelligent applications through artificial intelligence. This approach is designed to nurture highly skilled applied engineering professionals.
It has established an applied talent cultivation system characterized by AI-driven leadership, integrated hardware-software collaboration, and the convergence of four chains: education, talent, industry, and innovation. A multi-stakeholder governance mechanism involving universities, government, enterprises, and associations has been established to implement a four-stage progressive practical teaching approach. The approach is designed to comprehensively strengthen students' core competencies in intelligent system design, engineering innovation, and industrial application, and is delivered through a four-stage program: Fundamentals→Simulation→Innovation →Real-world Application. This approach fosters the development of highly qualified, interdisciplinary and innovative engineering professionals.
The faculty features a well-structured and highly skilled team of 167 members, with over 40% holding senior professional titles, 85% possessing master's degrees or higher, and more than 60% certified as dual-qualified instructors. The teaching team has been recognized as a provincial-level teaching team, and multiple faculty members have received honors such as Provincial Teaching Master and Outstanding Teacher.
It boasts comprehensive experimental and practical training facilities, including the Sichuan Provincial Electronic and Telecommunication Experimental Teaching Center, the Ministry of Education ICT Industry-Education Integration Innovation Base, and over 70 specialized laboratories such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Vision, and Embedded Systems. The laboratory area totals more than 7,500 square meters and the equipment is valued at over 40 million yuan. These resources fully support student internships, practical training and scientific research innovation.
The School's talent cultivation approach is centred on "industry-education integration and collaborative university-enterprise education." It has established a trinity curriculum system combining "fundamental theory + professional skills + engineering practice," implementing a teaching model driven by projects, case studies, and competition-based learning. This has led to a notable enhancement in the engineering practice and innovation capabilities of our students. In recent years, our students have achieved outstanding success in prestigious national competitions, including the National University Electronic Design Contest, the Intelligent Vehicle Competition, and the "Challenge Cup" Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition. Over the past three years, our students have accumulated close to 900 provincial-level and higher awards, a testament to their exceptional talent and dedication. It has established an "Academic Enhancement Special Class" to support graduate school preparation, with graduate employment placement rates exceeding 90% for five consecutive years.
Looking ahead, the School of Artificial Intelligence and Electronic Engineering will deepen its educational philosophy of "AI Empowerment and Industry-Education Symbiosis" through a four-dimensional integration strategy: team integration, curriculum integration, research integration, and governance integration. It will establish a three-dimensional linkage mechanism of "professional clusters—disciplinary platforms—industrial school" to provide robust talent support and intellectual assurance for Sichuan Province's development as an education powerhouse and a hub for scientific and technological innovation.
Communication Engineering, established in 2001, was the university's inaugural undergraduate program. In 2012, it successfully passed the evaluation by the Sichuan Provincial Education Department's expert panel for bachelor's degree-granting institutions. In 2016, it was selected for Sichuan's Quality Enhancement Plan for Distinctive Programs in Private Universities and established the Ministry of Education's "ICT Industry-Education Integration Innovation Base." In 2017, it was designated as one of "Sichuan's First Batch of Applied Demonstration Programs for Local Undergraduate Institutions."In August 2023, it passed the provincial-level model program evaluation, receiving unanimous acclaim from experts and society. Faculty members hold senior professional titles at a rate of 71%, and many have received numerous national and provincial awards. Students have achieved numerous accolades in various competitions, and their practical skills and professional ethics are highly commended by employers.
The program is based in Chengdu, serves Sichuan, and is focused on the western region. It engages in "differentiated competition" with related majors at key universities such as "985" and "211" institutions. The program is designed to nurture well-rounded individuals who possess moral integrity, intellectual prowess, physical fitness, aesthetic appreciation, and a strong work ethic. Graduates possess humanistic literacy, social responsibility and professional ethics, and have mastered fundamental theories and specialized skills in communication systems. They are prepared for positions in data communication, network construction, communication equipment operation and maintenance, and data signal processing. Graduates possess strong management and organizational skills, self-learning abilities, innovative thinking, professional dedication, and the capacity to solve real-world engineering problems.
